What is Ballistix Fitness?

Collectively we are community of committed individuals that are actively making positive changes in the realms of health, fitness & sport.

BallistixFitness offers the Crossfit program, which is based on constantly varied, functional movements, performed at high intensities. It is a strength and conditioning program that covers all 3 metabolic systems and all 10 major aspects of fitness (namely; endurance, strength, speed, stamina, power, balance, coordination, accuracy, agility and flexibility).

In essence, it is a program that develops a fitness that is broad, general and inclusive. Preparing the body to perform at any random task, activity or sport.

We are developing individuals to perform and most importantly, look like athletes. Our training is a reflection of that. If you want to look like a bodybuilder, train like one. If you want to look athletic, well defined, low body fat, well proportioned and injury resistant, then take a closer look at how we are achieving that.

It is designed to elicit an internal motivation far greater than training by oneself and even one-on-one with a personal trainer. This is achieved in our small group training sessions. This leads to greater output and even better results.

Is this for me & what can I expect?

All workouts are scalable, in that no matter what your level of fitness or experience, whether you’re a professional athlete or exercise beginner, it is the perfect application for any committed individual. We scale the load and intensity, we don’t change programs. We all have the same relative body mechanics and what we do is move the body the way it should be. We change how difficult those movements are and not the movements themselves.

Our program is designed to identify and automatically strengthen underdeveloped areas of your fitness, that in other programs or workouts don’t happen.

Below is a great video from a CrossFit affiliate in Cleveland that will give you a better understanding of who is benefiting & what you can expect when doing this training.

Fitness Progression

Athletic and fitness progression builds itself on varying levels, one level supporting the following one.

What is Ballistix Fitness

The first, and broadest of all levels, is nutrition. The height of your ascent up the varying levels, will be directly dependant on the width of your base. Poor nutrition = poor results in any of the following aspects.(Refer to Nutrition for more specifics)
The second level, metabolic conditioning, or commonly known as “cardio” relates to your work capacity across different lengths of time and modalities. This includes running, skipping, jumping, rowing, cycling, etc.
The third level, gymnastics, relates to how well you can control your body or “internal” weight. This includes simple movements like push ups, squats & pull ups to more complex movements like handstand push ups, dips and muscle-ups performed on gymnastic rings. Plyometrics, calisthenics and climbing would be included in this.
The fourth level, weightlifting and throwing, includes any form of lifting or throwing of an “external” weighted object. Be it a barbell, dumbbell, kettlebell, medicine ball, tyre or sandbag. This would include Olympic Weightlifting, powerlifting and odd-object lifting.
The fifth and final level, sport, is the physical expression of all physical performance and we encourage all our clients to take part in sport in some form or other, whether for recreation or competition.
